The Classic Parents` & Teachers` Nature Awareness Guidebook
Sharing Nature with Children: The Classic Parents’ and Teachers’ Nature Awareness Guidebook, is not just a book, but a powerful approach to nature education. The first edition of this book sparked a worldwide revolution in nature education and became a classic. The author, Joseph Cornell, is one of the most highly regarded nature educators in the world today. His expertise, and his irrepressible enthusiasm for the grandeur and mystery of nature, spill over onto every page. His unique blend of knowledge and warmth creates an atmosphere for learning that is very contagious.
In honour of the book`s 20th Anniversary, Cornell – drawing upon his experience giving workshops worldwide – has added eight new games and revisited many others in this second edition.
About the Author
From his earliest years, Joseph Cornell has felt a sensitive attunement with the mysteries and beauties of nature. As a boy, he spent much time exploring the marshes, orchards and mountains near his home in northern California.
Cornell has spent most of his adult life outdoors, too, showing others the wonders of nature. Joseph designed his own Bachelor of Science degree program in nature awareness at California State University in Chico. He received formal training as a naturalist with the National Audubon Society. Then, for seven years, he taught in public school outdoor education programs, and as a naturalist for the Boy Scouts of America. In 1979, he established the Sharing Nature Foundation to share his methods and philosophy with adults and teachers.
Today, as one of the world`s leading nature educators, Cornell`s workshops on nature awareness have been attended by tens of thousands of people around the globe. Sharing Nature with Children, the first in the Sharing Nature Series, has sold over 450,000 copies and has been translated into more than fifteen languages.
